For many, the thought of being self-employed and your own boss can be quite appealing. Whether you have spent time working in an office environment and are looking for a change of scenery or you just haven't found where you fit in starting your own Window Cleaning round could be the answer.
Getting started
The first thing you will want to do is learn the trade. Window cleaning is often thought of as quite simple and something anyone can do however if you are serious about setting out your own business and "being your own boss" then it all starts with planning. The key to building a successful round is quality workmanship and becoming a professional window cleaner.
Setting and maintaining high standards will give you greater chances of return custom, free advertising through word of mouth and customer reviews. It's about deciding if you want to be a boss or somebody with a job. Either is fine you just need to find what works best for you.

Leaflets are a good old-fashioned method but conversion rates from leaflets to actual customers are very low. This can be boosted a little by following up on leaflets with door-to-door canvassing. This is where you can sell yourself and your service.
A simple knock at the door "hello I'm Craig we put a leaflet through your door the other day would you like a quote for your windows to be cleaned on a monthly basis?" "We are licensed to operate by Fife Council and are Fully insured". Door-to-door canvassing can be daunting and you should expect a lot of rejection but if you are ready for it just keep your chin up and onto the next one.
Social media is a great way of engaging with customers. You can easily set up a business page on Facebook where you can add pictures, videos, and other content to showcase your work and engage with your target audience. Twitter and Instagram are other platforms that can increase your audience as can Google Business. Most platforms now offer "boosted posts" where in exchange for a fee the platforms will push your content into potential customer's handsets and other devices.
Methods of Window Cleaning
When you have done your research you should decide what method you will use. Personally, I find both methods effective and offer them at customers preference.
Traditional Window Cleaning can be a good way to start out due to lower initial costs and it is always a valuable skill to learn as it will enable you to offer internal cleaning as an add-on service.
If you would rather start out with a water-fed pole system you can easily find a setup to fit your budget. Some people start out with a simple backpack or trolley system or you can opt for a larger system such as a van mounted system.
Twenty litres will clean an average of one domestic house depending on how efficient you are in your technique and how dirty the glass is will depend if you use more or less water.
With your delivery method sorted all you need is a way to purify your water. Water Fed Pole Window Cleaning is done using Purified water. The brush disrupts and lifts dirt from the glass and the pure water absorbs it and carried it away.
